This post is slightly overdue; my brothers, Eli and Jacob, played on the Borah High School varsity soccer team in the Idaho state tournament last weekend. STATE CHAMPS, BABY! I couldn't be more excited or proud.
Some stats:
- In the quarterfinals against Boise High School (which I happen to have a deep and abiding prejudice against) Eli scored 2 of the 3 goals (the score was 3-2) and Jacob got all the assists.
- In the semifinals against Lake City (score: 3-2), Jacob scored the first and second goals off a corner and a header respectively, and Eli headed the last goal in to seal the victory.
- In the championship game against Centennial High School (score: 3-1) Eli scored the last of the three goals. Borah lost to Centennial last year in the championship game, (Centennial scored in the last 10 seconds) so it was an especially sweet victory.
Yeah--I think a lot of the inheritable athletic talent went to them. They're pretty much famous now; check out the newspaper articles here and here and the pictures here (Jacob is #13, and Eli is #19)
Quite the dynamic duo, aren't they? And so handsome, too. :) Pictures to come!
